First Steps in Puppy Linux
Make a Live Disc
Insert a blank CD or DVD in your optical drive which has burning capability. Rewritable media, either CD-RW or DVD+RW is preferable. It is environmentally sound and if for any reason the write process fails you may erase the disc and begin again.
Start your burning software and select burn ISO
Note: Do not use default Windows burning software as it can not create a bootable live disc, what it will create is a data disc containing a copy of the ISO source file(s).
Windows users may use Nero if installed or ImgBurn or any burning software they may have available. ImgBurn is a fully featured freeware burning application that runs in all versions of Windows from 98 to Vista.
Browse to the directory where you downloaded the Puppy Linux ISO file.
Click ISO file to select it and in your burning software click Burn button.
After the burn is finished you may, if you wish, boot Puppy Linux by leaving the live disc in the drive and rebooting the computer.
Acquire Live Disc
If you do not have access to an optical drive with burning capability you may instead buy a Puppy Linux Live Disc or Preloaded USB Flash Drive.
